[uClibc]from arm-elf-gcc to ARMulator

Hello list,
I try to compile a simple program:
arm-elf-gcc first.c -o first
then i load 'first' into the ARMulator. (ADS v1_2)
I see all the symbols there.
I can run few assembly lines, but then I reach 'swi 0x900036' command in 
the _ioctl.
The ARMulator yells:
"Processor ARM946E_S raised an exception. Cause: Undefined instruction."
and pc is set to 0x00000004.

Can you please tell me where did I go wrong?
it feels like i lost something really important, there's no vector for 
those exceptions there...
Any hint would be greatly appreciated !
