Thanks for your reply. I just compared my test with coreutils-5.97, the
results are identical as coreutils-6.9. Maybe you wrote the inital
version against an even older version?

By "pristine busybox version" you mean busybox-1.9.0 without my patch
applied? That's what I tested with in the first place.
