unknown server error

hello,
   
  i m getting an error
  "Unknown server error"
   
  when i ive command 
  "hostname -i"
   
  or even ping localhost
   
  I am using busybox with arm linux.
   
  i m having files
   /etc/hosts
      /etc/host.conf
  /etc/resolve.conf
  /etc/nsswitch.conf
   
  can u help me ?
