Getting stuck at the filesystem stage

I made a small statically linked bootable, busybox system, with linux kernel
2.6.20 and syslinux as the bootloader, then i used genromfs to create a
filesystem image of the directories and everything i had done on the host
system. But when i boot the system using qemu (its an emulator ), its
getting stuck at loading fs.gz (compressed image of the filesystem generated
by genromfs).

I am sending a screen shot, along. Is there a problem with qemu or yhe
system i compiled

PS: i have no other option other than using an emulater.
