a simple request: apply all outstanding patches.

while i realize that the BB maintainers have a lot on their
respective plates at the moment, i want to make what i think is a
simple and not unreasonable request: would you folks *please* process
the patches that you've received in the last little while?

actually, to be more accommodating, i can make that suggestion more
flexible -- either apply the patches or explicitly reject them. but
*make a decision* one way or the other. it's getting increasingly
frustrating to invest the time to put together patches and submit
them, only to have those patches simply vanish into the ether, without
either being applied or rejected.

personally, i have a number of patches that i've submitted for which
i've received absolutely no feedback and which have not been applied.
in cases like this, i'm not sure what the protocol is. perhaps those
patches just fell in between the couch cushions or something so, every
so often, i'll go back to my directory of submitted patches and check
which ones made it and which ones didn't.

but that's getting kind of tiring, and i have better things to do
than continually keep checking for things like this. i would rather
spend my time creating and submitting *new* patches rather than
hounding the maintainers to deal with my old ones.

not that long ago, i asked why my patch to tidy up the calculation
of the kernel version number hadn't been applied. not only did that
not have any effect (again), but, off-line, someone who shall remain
nameless chastised me for not taking the time to continue the original
thread from my first submission of that patch.

with all due respect, f**k that. if it's been *weeks* since i've
submitted a patch and i'm curious about where it's gone, i have
absolutely no interest in digging around in old mail messages or the
mailing list archives just so i can find the original thread to
continue from.

when i originally joined this list and started making suggestions
about bug fixes or clean-ups, i was invariably told, "submit a patch."
fine. but if i do, i would like it to be acted upon one way or the
other in a timely fashion. if it's good, apply it. if it isn't,
reject it and say so.

with a new version of BB imminent, this seems to be as good a time
as any to work through the backlog of submitted patches and deal with
them, one way or the other.
