`svn up` works just fine for me

$ cd /usr/local/src/uclibc/trunk/busybox/
$ svn up

Fetching external item into 'networking/udhcp'
A    networking/udhcp/Makefile.udhcp
<snip>
A    networking/udhcp/socket.h
 U   networking/udhcp
Updated external to revision 14677.
