i wasn't sure what was and wasn't acceptable at this point, but i'm
trying to keep my submissions aesthetic in most cases, just to make it
easier for me to read the code.

if even fixes like that are out-of-bounds, let me know.

p.s.  given that we're using subversion, can't we have an
upcoming-1.2.0 branch, as well as an ongoing development trunk and
just merge after 1.2.0 is released?
