I just got back from 4 days at Penguicon and am a bit fried, and am apparently
400 messages behind in my inbox, but in case your question hasn't been
answered yet:
The tree's still wide open right now. Any patches that were held off for
scheduling reasons, now's the time to get them in. The next release is in
June, and I'll probably start making stabilization noises around the start of
May.
(If you want me to check it in, either attach the patch or give me a URL to
where it lives in the archives. I have a patch backlog I'm sorting through,
but finding something specific in it has become a bit of a challenge.)

Never bet against the cheap plastic solution.
