I have a 2.6.15 preemptible kernel that can insmod just fine, built for PPC
or x86.  I haven't tried it with less than busybox 1.1 though I admit.

I did have a preemptible 2.6.11.5 running on several boxes with
busybox 1.00without any problems though.
