[ping] applet nohup patch

Hi,

I shrinked the new proposed applet nohup to 
$ size nohup.o*
   text data bss dec hex filename
    842 0 0 842 34a nohup.o.01
    775 0 0 775 307 nohup.o.02

It was originally well over 1k, iirc.

I don't see a good opportunity to further shrink it
without dropping robustness.
