Hello Cheng,

I was also facing similar problem on x86 machine.
I did following things to resolve the problem:
1. Mounted the 'devpts' filesystem.
2. Create nodes '1', '2', '3' etc. using 'mknod' under '/dev/pts' tree.

You could find more information about the telnet and pseudo terminal in:
http://www.linux.com/howtos/Text-Terminal-HOWTO-6.shtml

I hope this should help you.

Regards,
Sachin Rane

Subject: Why not telnet the PowerPC?

Hi,Everyone:
I launched telnetd service in PowerPC but when I want to connect to
my embedded
machine, I get:

         Trying 192.168.0.54...
         Connected to 192.168.0.54 (192.168.0.54).
         Escape character is '^]'.
         Connection closed by foreign host.

I suppose, something is missing, but what?
                                                  Cheng Guanghui
