Sorry, but i can drive busybox modutils well enough to test it, on my
2.6.3 system where upstream modutils works fine, i get the following
with and without your patch.

# ./busybox modprobe saa7134 card=2
insmod: can't read 'saa7134': No such file or directory
modprobe: failed to load module saa7134
