How could that break you build? Please paste the exact error you were
getting.
This bit works around the fact that tar.c is buggy in that it relies on
FNM_LEADING_DIR to be defined. FNM_LEADING_DIR is a non-standard,
non-portable GNU extension that simply is not available for certain libc.
That proposed patch is wrong, as said, please paste the error you were
seeing and describe what setup you used when you saw that alleged
build-failure.
